The Sephardic Center is a leading hub for Sephardic Jewish life in the San Francisco Bay Area—bringing together young professionals, families, and the broader community through Shabbat and holiday dinners, cultural events, education programs, daily Minyan and meaningful connections.

Membership includes five core benefits, combining belonging, access, and community participation:
Your Place in the Synagogue
A named seat reserved for you throughout the year.High Holiday Seating
Reserved seating for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.Social Hall Access
Use of the Social Hall once per year for a personal Jewish event.Community Recognition
The ability to place names on the Etz Chaim and memorial boards.Voting & Community Participation
The right to participate in community decisions and voting, in accordance with the Center’s bylaws.

As the community grows, membership will include expanded programming for families, seniors, teenagers, and children, based on demand and available resources.

Membership is both ownership & belonging—your place, your voice, your presence in the community—and a vibrant social experience connected to Sephardic life in the Bay Area.

We offer flexible membership options:
Young Professionals
Student (Full-Time): $800/year
Ages 21–30: $1,200/year
Ages 31+: $1,800/year
Family Memberships
Couple + Children: $3,600/year
Couple (No Children): $2,400/year
Single Parent: $1,800/year
You can also choose a custom amount to support the community.

Flexible payment options may be available (monthly or quarterly).
However, full membership rights are typically tied to annual commitments.
If you choose a non-annual payment plan, please check with Angela (admin@ansheysfard.com) to confirm which benefits and rights apply to your membership. -
Annual membership provides the full set of membership rights and benefits, along with cost savings.
Best value: approximately 2 months free compared to monthly payments
Full access to core membership rights (seat, High Holidays, voting, etc.)
Example:
Student Membership is $800/year
If paid monthly (~$80/month), total = $960/year -
No—membership is not automatic upon payment.
All memberships are subject to approval by the Sephardic Center’s board and management. As we have limited capacity and are thoughtfully growing the community, we review each application to ensure we can serve all members in the best way possible.
You may:
Apply first, then complete payment once approved
Or pay first, and the office will follow up with a short application
If you complete payment and are later waitlisted or not approved, a full refund will be issued.

The membership tier you’re interested in
Your proposed price or payment plan
We’ll review and do our best to accommodate your request, especially for first-time members.

Priority access means your spot is reserved before non-members for events and activities.
To claim it:
You will be contacted (e.g., by Angela) to confirm your attendance
You must confirm at least 72 hours before the event
If you do not confirm in time, your spot may be released to others, as we balance space between members and newcomers.
Young Professionals Membership – FAQ

If you are joining together as a couple, you should select Family Membership – Couple (No Children) or Couple + Children.
You can still fully participate in young professional events, including First Friday Shabbat dinners. The membership type reflects how you join—not which events you can attend.

Through our Kululu Matchmaking Initiative, members can:
Join a community matchmaking database
Receive priority consideration as members
Schedule a conversation with the Rabbi to share what they’re looking for
Based on a deeper understanding of your values and goals, the Rabbi will actively try to make meaningful introductions and support you in this stage of life.

Yes. When programs are active, membership includes access to young professional events, such as First Friday Shabbat dinners.
Members also receive:
Priority access
Discounted tickets for select events
Programming is offered based on the community calendar and ongoing activity, and continues to expand as the Center grows.
Currently:
First Friday Shabbat dinners (monthly) are included
First Night holiday dinners (major Jewish holidays) are not included, but discounted tickets are available for members
Programming follows the community calendar and continues to grow over time.
Family Membership – FAQ

Family membership includes up to 3 children up to 21 years old.
Each additional child can be added for $500 per year. -
Yes. A Single Parent membership can include children under the same structure:
Up to 3 children included
Each additional child: $500/year

Young adults may remain under a family membership up to age 21
After that, they transition into an individual (Young Professional) membership.

You can select Family Membership – Single Parent.
This option is available for individuals who are not part of the young professional category. If you have children, they can be added under this membership.
